Annual Appeal 2016
Dear Friends & Enthusiasts of America On Wheels Museum:
The holiday season is fast approaching and it once again gives us a chance to pause and reflect on the things in our lives for which we are grateful. It also affords us the opportunity to look at our communities and decide how we can give back and help those around us. I’d like to share good news with you. An exciting relationship has been created in the City of Allentown: America On Wheels, the Historic Vehicle Association, and the NB Center for American Automotive Heritage are collaborating to put Allentown on the map for preserving automotive history. We recently re-structured our Board of Directors and the museum is now poised to begin the next phase of our journey. We will be working with the HVA to bring historic displays to the museum on a regular basis. We will be expanding our educational programs beginning in 2017 for ages 6 through 17. We are in the process of updating our summer camp programs. We want our youth to have the opportunity to learn about the science, engineering and design processes involved in taking a vehicle from concept to production. We are also thrilled to be able to offer FREE Sundays year-round to children 12 and under. I have had the honor of serving as Executive Director for ten years. Our small dedicated staff and cadre of loyal volunteers remain steadfast in their commitment to growing America On Wheels Museum into a nationally recognized tourist and educational attraction along Allentown’s Waterfront.
I would like to share with you that we have worked hard to continue to strengthen our financial health. We are growing our numbers of members and sponsors. We continue to host numerous events that have brought in hundreds of people to view our museum’s collection. Annual Appeals allow us to remain vibrant and relevant. Operating a museum remains a monumental task. Our operating budget for the upcoming year is $600,000. Admissions, facility rentals, school field trips, special events and memberships cover only a portion of our costs. As the Tuesday after Thanksgiving has been designated as a day of Charitable Giving, we would like to take this occasion to appeal to you for a donation to the Museum. We count on the support of individuals, corporations and charitable foundations to enable us to continue to operate this top notch cultural attraction. Our continued growth and success depends largely on the generosity of our donors. Your 100% tax deductible contribution will enable us to continue to provide our visitors with opportunities to be educated, enthralled and entertained like nowhere else in the region. Please consider contributing as generously as you can. Every dollar counts. If your employer offers a Matching Gift Program, you can make your contribution twice as significant. A contribution slip is enclosed for your convenience.
Your generous donation will enable you to share in our successes in the year ahead. We hope you visit our website, shop in our museum store, “like” us on Facebook, “follow” our exhibits and events and enjoy all the museum offers. We believe that philanthropy provides the opportunity for new growth. Please help us continue the good work being done so that future generations will enjoy the life-long education that occurs within our museum. We are counting on your generosity. We trust you want to see America On Wheels’ reputation grow. During this season of Thanksgiving we wish you a joyous holiday season and a fabulous 2017. Stop in any time. We are definitely A Trip Worth Taking!
Treasure the day,
