Mock Turtle Marionette Theater is entering its thirty-fourth season as a puppet theater company. The theater’s record of over four thousand appearances in schools, theaters, museums, libraries and festivals includes two ten show appearances at the Kennedy Center, two Meet the Artist engagements at Lincoln Center, and a series of performances in the New York International Fringe Festival. In 2006 the theater was nominated for a Mid-Atlantic Emmy for its history-based video, My Name is Jeremiah, produced for the National Canal Museum. Mock Turtle has managed its own theater space at the IceHouse Performing Arts Center in Bethlehem since 1996, hosting field trips, family programs and The IceHouse Tonight, a sustainable arts series. In addition to its work as a presenter and as a community partner, the company has a large investment in education, working with the Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey Councils on the Arts in over sixty artist-in- residency programs to the schools. Among its educational programs, the theater’s Welcome to Our Family, puppetry-based child abuse prevention program, ran for five years in Lehigh County schools and social service sites.
